Working on a new post for +Libertarianism.org on the conflation of "can" and "ought" in political debate. We often assume these are the same thing. So we say, "The government ought to make sure everyone has quality healthcare." And then vote for a bill called "The Quality Healthcare Act." But we (often) ignore the question of whether the government can do it. If the government can't do something (it lacks the tools, knowledge, etc., to solve a problem), there's no real point in even discussing whether it ought to do it.
