"but if you marry more than one wife, you get kicked out of the mormon church"

Out of the LDS church, other than that you have nothing to go on. The mormons in this story aren't LDS.

Jared, you raise an important point: the story very much is a work of fiction. I've based it heavily in mormon mythology and I'm drawing upon a good deal of research into the faith, both from reading of primary and secondary mormon materials, as well as hours of conversations with practicing and non-practicing mormons, missionaries, and ex-LDS members. I imagine some LDS faithful will find the story offensive -- just as some catholics found The Da Vinci Code offensive -- but, as you point out, it's only a work of fiction.

as a mormon (member of the LDS faith) I have to say that although this is a well told story, I can't help but let you know that your understanding of the mormons is extremely inaccurate. but this is a fiction work and there are some fringe groups that may be like this. but if you marry more than one wife, you get kicked out of the mormon church. and its not all creepy and weird. it sounds like you have got your impressions from anti-mormon websites that make up allot of bull to get people to think that being kind is a sign of evil hidden benieth. but I want your readers to know that no mormons do ANY of thestuff you speak of here. its a good work of fiction but is very far from even touching on any truth.
